Color Doppler Imaging in Uveitis

Abstract: According to our results, uveitis in Behçet's disease is associated with significant reductions of CRA and PCA flow velocities when compared with other types of uveitis and healthy subjects. In cases without ocular involvement, CRA flow velocities were lower than the control group, but there were no real differences in the PCA and OA values. This suggests that vasculitic involvement of PCA is more specific to Behçet's disease and occurs later in the course of the disease. The results also suggest that it may b… Show more

“…7,12,13 However, we found no significant difference between active and inactive PSV and/or EDV of both TPCA and NPCA's are lower BD patients with uveitis than without uveitis. 6,7,13,17 In contrast to Soylu et al's and Yanık et al's study, we found NPCA blood flow differences between patients with active and inactive uveitis. 14,15 In our study, PSV and EDV were significantly lower in patients with active uveitis than in the other groups in NPCA, but not in TPCA.…”

“…20 Atilla et al 21 performed a hemodynamic comparison of four groups of patients: patients with Behçet's disease with and without ocular involvement, patients with uveitis of different aetiology, and a healthy control group. They found that Behçet patients with ocular involvement showed a significant reduction in PSV and EDV values in their central retinal artery and posterior ciliary artery when compared with the other three groups.…”

“…Previous studies showed no differences in the TPCA flow parameters between non-ocular BD patients and the normal control subjects. 21,22 In our study, the TCPA's PSV and EDV values were lower and PI and RI values were higher in patients with ocular BD particularly in who had active uveitis.…”

“…Many studies show that the PSV and EDV of TPCA were found to be lower in ocular BD patients than in the normal control group and non-ocular BD patients. 21,22 In addition, increased TPCA PI values have been reported in ocular BD patients compared with the control group. 23,26 These findings (EDV and PSV reduction and PI increase in TPCA) indicate that choroidal circulation is also involved by vasculitis, which is difficult to detect clinically.…”
