The following article uses a simple-game theoretic model to explain the termination of the Colombian-armed conflict. Assuming a rationality of the Colombian Government and the guerrilla group, the Revolutionary Armed Forces, People’s Army within the internal armed conflict, an analysis of conjuncture and an identification of dimensions and strategies are used to try to explain the evolution of the armed conflict in the last two decades and its particular transformation. This is done by comparing the frustrated Caguán process, which took place between 1999 and 2002, with the recently completed Havana process that has put an end to more than five decades of internal conflict.

The foundations of the Colombian State are linked to the development of internal conflict and political violence that have marked the history of the country. This situation creates a huge challenge for peace consolidation since it involves questioning and scrapping many of the concepts and identity frameworks over which political discourses and structures have been built in Colombia. The objective of this article is to analyze the way the image of the State has been articulated in the Colombian political discourses and how it has been affected by the recent Peace Process.

La periferialización del conflicto armado colombiano (2002)(2003)(2004)(2005)(2006)(2007)(2008)(2009)(2010)(2011)(2012)(2013)(2014) 1 Jerónimo Ríos Sierra 2 Recibido: 7 de abril de 2016 / Aceptado: 2 de agosto de 2016 Resumen. El propósito de este trabajo es el de profundizar en un proceso que, definido como periferialización, explica alguno de los cambios espaciales que ha experimentado la violencia derivada del conflicto armado en Colombia entre los años 2002 y 2014. Unos cambios, especialmente focalizados en el nororiente y el suroccidente del país, es decir, sobre escenarios muy alejados de los centros decisorios del país, que presentan menores niveles de desarrollo económico y social, pero con un valor estratégico importante debido a la presencia de cultivos ilícitos o de mayor activismo guerrillero. De este modo, la geografía política se reivindica como disciplina de análisis, habida cuenta de las posibilidades que ofrece tanto para la comprensión de las dinámicas de la violencia como de las posibilidades de construcción de paz, sobre todo, habida cuenta del actual proceso de diálogo con las FARC y el ELN. Palabras clave: Colombia; conflicto político; guerrilla; FARC; ELN.[en] The Peripherialization of Colombian Armed Conflict, 2002Conflict, -2014 Abstract. The purpose of this work is to reflect on a process defined as peripheralization, that explains the spatial changes experienced by the violence of the armed conflict in Colombia between 2002 and 2014. These changes focus on the northeast and the southwest. That is, scenarios away from the decision-making centers in the country, which have lower levels of economic and social development, but with an important strategic value for the presence of illicit crops or greater guerrilla activism. Thus, Political Geography is claimed as a discipline that facilitates understanding of the dynamics of violence and the possibilities of peace building, especially given the current process of dialogue with the FARC and ELN.
