The fact that models of entrepreneurship have generally been developed on a global scale has made the matter of explaining and assessing indigenous level experience rather difficult from the perspective of reliability and validity. It is therefore very important from an academic perspective to reveal such local scale entrepreneurial behaviours. Research was conducted in three stages. Personal backgrounds formed by factors such as role models, traits and experience, and contextual terms were addressed. Then clues regarding cognitive structures and processes were researched by focusing on how entrepreneurs recognize opportunities. Finally, factors having an influence in the formation of entrepreneurial intentions were addressed. The sampling structure of this study was entrepreneurs in the town of Biga, which is one of the main economic fields of the Canakkale region in Turkey. Findings on the research topic were obtained by evaluating entrepreneurial activities in different time periods by indigenous entrepreneurs and by conducting detailed interviews with these entrepreneurs. Using this research method made possible a more effective understanding the decision-making paradigm of the entrepreneurs. The 26 entrepreneurs analysed in the study were divided into three basic types according to the dominant factors determined following analysis of the reasons that led them to start an entrepreneurial career.

La responsabilité sociétale de l’entreprise (RSE) est aujourd’hui une réalité qui s’impose à tout type d’entreprise. Du fait du rôle dominant du dirigeant dans la prise de décision dans les petites et moyennes entreprises (PME), sa perception de la RSE constitue une source privilégiée de l’étude du concept. Partant de l’idée que la certification selon les normes internationales peut être un facteur distinctif de la perception de la RSE, nous avons mené une enquête exploratoire basée sur des études de cas multiples auprès de huit PME tunisiennes réparties en deux groupes : quatre certifiées selon les normes internationales (ISO 9001, ISO 14001, OHSAS, etc.) et quatre non certifiées. L’analyse des convergences et des divergences entre les perceptions des dirigeants de ces PME a montré une faible distinction entre les deux groupes quant à l’appropriation du concept de RSE et à l’identification des motivations et des freins à l’engagement de l’entreprise. D’autres facteurs émergents de cette étude sont liés à la conviction personnelle du dirigeant et à la culture nationale.

ResumoAmpliar a compreensão dos motivos que levam as organizações a implementarem diferentes práticas de gestão constituiu o objetivo central da pesquisa conduzida. Mais precisamente, buscou-se identificar, em empresas com distintos perfis de inovação, diferenças entre estruturas cognitivas -esquemas -de atores que podem explicar a intensidade de uso de novas práticas de gestão. Selecionaram-se quatro empresas classificadas em dois padrões de inovação: empresas consideradas muito inovadoras e pouco inovadoras. Participaram do estudo 12 atores organizacionais que responderam a oito questões abertas que envolveram a investigação dos significados associados à mudança organizacional, as explicações subjacentes à adoção das práticas de gestão e a percepção dos seus impactos. As respostas às questões foram sistematizadas por meio da análise de conteúdo gerando categorias e subcategorias em torno das quais os conteúdos foram classificados. Representações gráficas foram utilizadas para mostrar os esquemas cognitivos associados aos diferentes padrões de inovação organizacional que evidenciaram tanto conteúdos compartilhados entre empresas de um mesmo padrão assim como elementos que singularizam a visão dos atores.
