Co-Phased Traction Power System Based on Balanced Transformer and Hybrid Compensation

Abstract: Power quality pollution to power system and locomotive's discontinued current collection are caused by two phase traction power supply system in electrical railway. Cost-effective co-phased traction power systems (CTPS) consisted of balanced transformer, active power flow controller device (APFC) and passive compensation device (PCD) was presented to reduce power quality pollution and guarantee locomotive's current collection continuously by canceling neutral section. Two schemes of CTPS were compared, paramet… Show more

“…As a result, the coupling impedance at this point is selected and is calculated based on the assumption V invα1_A =V invβ1_B. By subtracting (12) from (11), the coupling impedance value is deduced and given in (13 (13) Similar to other application of LC coupling branch in a parallel connected power filters, the LC branch of the HRPC is also designed to resonant at a certain harmonic frequency for suppressing the harmonics. It is assume the LC branch resonant at nth harmonic, (14) is deduced.…”

“…It is indicated by the previous work that the RPC needs to transfer almost half of the total active power and almost all the reactive power. In these works, the rating of the RPC is calculated based on the assumptions that (1) the three phase grid currents are always balanced, (2) PF at the grid is unity and (3) all the harmonics are compensated [9][10].…”
