Co-enzyme Q10 and acetyl salicylic acid enhance Hsp70 expression in primary chicken myocardial cells to protect the cells during heat stress

Abstract: We investigated the effects of co-enzyme Q10 (Q10) and acetyl salicylic acid (ASA) on expression of Hsp70 in the protection of primary chicken myocardial cells during heat stress. Western blot analysis showed that Q10 and ASA accelerated the induction of Hsp70 when chicken myocardial cells were exposed to hyperthermia. In the absence of heat stress, however, neither Q10 nor ASA are able to upregulate Hsp70 expression. Analysis of enzymes that respond to cellular damage and pathological examination revealed tha… Show more

“…To this extent, some studies have reported that, in responses to oxidative stress, inducing HSPs with physiological stimulus such as exercise can improve tissue protection [40][41][42]. In this study, aspirin, a well-known anti-fever drug, was proved to induce successfully increased Hsp90 and Hsp70 expression in kidneys with or without heat stress exposure, similar to our studies in myocardial cells [43,44]. The induction of Hsp90 and Hsp70 by aspirin might occur through regulating the expression and nuclear translocation of HSF-1 and HSF-3 [30,43,44].…”

The induction of Hsp90 and Hsp70 by aspirin might occur through regulating the expression and nuclear translocation of HSF-1 and HSF-3 [30,43,44]. Under this condition, the inhibition of cellular apoptosis and enhancement of autophagy were found, including milder tissue injury.…”

“…Many radicals and metabolic substances are potentially toxic and are defined as “reactive oxygen/nitrogen/chlorine species”[ 4 , 9 ]. These substances are highly reactive and can modify several biologically cellular macromolecules, such as proteins, lipids, and nucleic acids (DNA and RNA) [ 10 , 11 ]. Heat stress is one of the most challenging environmental conditions that affect commercial poultry.…”

“…The chickens showed a reduced heat shock phenomenon in vivo, and their primary myocardial cells showed less damage compared with those of the HS-only group. In addition, indicators of oxidative stress, such as malondialdehyde (MDA), superoxide dismutase (SOD), and lactate dehydrogenase (LDH), were decreased after Q10 and vitamin C treatment [ 10 , 14 ]. Therefore, we focused on identifying further natural substances that can ease HS of broilers in vivo.…”

“…Виходячи з цих даних, вікасол може викликати в міокарді зміни жирнокислотного складу тканин, а правильно підібрана доза препарату забезпечить підвищення опірності організму до негативних чинників, що може бути використано при виборі технології годування та лікування сільськогосподарської птиці. У той же час позитивний ефект на функціональний стан міокарду підтверджується широким застосуванням хінонів як кардіопротекторних препаратів [9,15,21,34].…”
