Peroral cholangiopancreatoscopy has a long history of development since 1974. It has been called a mother‐babyscope system or babyscopy. Although peroral approaches to the bilio‐pancreatic diseases have produced some other methods a babyscopy has established its position as a method for digestive endoscopy. An instrument with angulation and forceps channel system has become useful in therapeutic endoscopy since 1986. It made possible procedures such as the diagnostics of biopsy or brushing cytology under direct vision and the therapeutics of lithotripsy or guide‐wire insertion have been included. Since 1989 an ultrathin endoscope system using television monitoring was developed to expose the next step. We are aware that a new system endoscopy will advance procedures, feasibilities and applicabilities.
