Clear cell hidradenoma in a young girl

Abstract: Clear cell hidradenoma was diagnosed in a girl at 3(1/2) years of age. Only one case of hidradenoma has been documented in the first decade of life, although it remains unclear whether it was clear cell hidradenoma. This case demonstrates that clear cell hidradenoma is a rare differential diagnosis of cutaneous tumors even in young children, which is of special interest, because malignant transformations can occur.

“…The most prevalent dermoscopic feature of juvenile xanthogranuloma (JXG) is the setting sun appearance, which is defined as orange-yellow background with a subtle erythematous border [1][2][3][4][5] ; however, JXG alters its features gradually in terms of clinical, histopathological, and dermoscopic appearance. Song et al 1 recently described dermoscopic characteristics of JXG on each clinical stage; early evolutionary, fully developed, and late regressive stage, correlating with the histopathological findings.…”

“…Faulhaber et al 2 reported the first case of a clear cell hidradenoma in a 5-year-old Turkish girl, and other cases include a 5-year-old Japanese boy with clear cell hidradenoma on the forearm 3 and a 9-year-old Indian girl with clear cell hidradenoma on the leg. 4 The youngest case that has been reported, to our knowledge, was an 18-month-old Spanish girl with clear cell hidradenoma on the leg.…”
