Checklist of butterflies (Lepidoptera: Papilionoidea) of an urban area of Caatinga-Atlantic Forest ecotone in Bahia, Brazil

Abstract: The butterfly inventories carried out in urban landscapes in Bahia are still scarce. Urban areas with remnants of native vegetation in association with ornamental plants can provide several resources that are favorable for the development and shelter of various animal species, including insects, even with the high anthropization that occurs in these environments. In this work, we aim to investigate the urban fauna of butterflies at the Campus of the Universidade Estadual de Feira de Santana (UEFS), an area of … Show more

“…Jumlah kupu-kupu yang dideskripsi di dunia sekitar 18.000 spesies (Dantas et al, 2021), 90% tersebar di daerah tropik (Suwarno et al, 2018), menyebabkan daerah tropis sebagai area konservasi kupu-kupu yang penting. Di Indonesia terdapat sekitar 2000 spesies kupu-kupu (Peggy, 2014).…”

“…There are approximately 18,000 described butterfly species in the world [19], with about 90% found in the tropics [20], making the tropical region an important area for butterfly conservation [21]. Butterflies frequently need resources available in healthy ecosystems, such as flowers for nectar; specific host plants that caterpillars can use as a food source; and bare, moist soil patches for water and salts [22].…”
