BackgroundAcne is a common skin issue that typically occurs during adolescence. It causes long‐lasting redness and swelling in the skin. An alternative approach to treating acne could involve using a cosmetic facial mask containing herbal ingredients such as Curcumin and Rosa Damascena extract for its antibacterial properties.AimsThis study aims to create and try out a peel‐off mask gel made from Curcumin and R. Damascena extract. This gel is intended to have the ability to kill bacteria such as Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, and Propionibacterium acnes and remove dead cells from the skin surface.MethodsThe peel‐off mask was made using polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) in 8% and 10% as solidifier. The evaluation of peel‐off masks comprises the examination of physiochemical and mechanical aspects. Furthermore, their longevity, effectiveness, and antibacterial properties are also considered.ResultsThe white color, pleasant smell, and soft texture were the defining features of the peel‐off gel mask. The changes in PVA affect the pH level, thickness, and how quickly the peel‐off mask dries. The stability test found that the peel‐off mask had no significant physical changes when exposed to freezing and thawing. However, there were some differences in color and separation when using the real‐time method. A prepared peel‐off mask containing 10% PVA and curcumin works best against P. acne. The amount of PVA in the formula affected the physical and chemical qualities, but it did not impact on the antibacterial abilities of the peel‐off mask gel. The best formula that gives the best results uses 10% PVA + curcumin.ConclusionsUsing the Curcumin and R. Damascena extract in the creation of the peel‐off mask gel ensures its efficacy and safety for skin application.

Ageing can be caused by accumulating excess dead skin cells on the skin's surface. Coffee grounds are a by-product of the coffee brewing process. Coffee grounds can be used as activated charcoal in face scrub preparations. The purpose of this study was to formulate and test the effectiveness of anti-ageing face scrub preparations of coffee grounds activated charcoal (Coffea arabica L.) with the addition of vitamin E. Material and methods: the research method includes processing coffee grounds in the form of drying and making activated charcoal, then formulating into face scrub preparations with a concentration of 1 %; 2 %, 3 % with vitamin E, 5 % and without vitamin E and blanc (without activated charcoal). Evaluation of face scrub preparations includes homogeneity test, stability test (odour, colour, pH and consistency), cycling test, dispersion test, viscosity test, centrifugation test, hedonic test, irritation test, and effectiveness test (moisture, pores, stains, wrinkles) on facial skin using a skin analyser on 24 volunteers with application to the face once a week for 4 weeks. The experimental data were analysed using the SPSS 22 program. Results: they showed that all face scrub preparations were in the form of cream with grey-black granules, coffee-scented, homogeneous, stable for 12 weeks of storage at room temperature (20-25°C), pH value (5.0-6.0), had a spreading power of 5-7 cm, viscosity (3760-3996 mPa's), no separation occurs in the centrifugation test and does not irritate facial skin. The results of the hedonic test, the most preferred formulation, was the F3 preparation. The effectiveness test results were an increase in humidity of 27 %, a decrease in pore size of 35.8 %, stains of 40 % and wrinkles of 37.6 %. Conclusion: from the results of the study, it can be concluded that the face scrub preparation of activated charcoal coffee grounds (Coffea arabica L.) with a concentration of 3 % and vitamin E 5 % is a formula that meets the evaluation of the preparation and measures the effectiveness of anti-ageing

Achillea millefolium L., commonly known as yarrow, is a versatile and widely distributed plant species with a rich history of ethnopharmacological significance. This study aimed to evaluate the comparative differences of A. millefolium inflorescence morphotypes. The phytochemical profile of white and pink inflorescence morphotypes was characterised by a complex of thirty-four phenolic and triterpene compounds. The species has distinct morphotypes of white and pink inflorescence. Phenolic and triterpenic profiles were determined, and individual compounds were quantified in inflorescence, leaf, and stem samples of two morphotypes tested. The antioxidant activity of plant extracts was evaluated by free radical scavenging (ABTS) and ferric-reducing antioxidant power (FRAP) assays. Caffeoylquinic acids predominated in all parts of the plant tested. Chlorogenic acid and 3,5-dicaffeoylquinic acid were the principal compounds in the phenolic profile. Betulin, betulinic acid, and α-amyrin were the prevailing triterpenic components in the triterpenic profiles of Achillea millefolium morphotypes. The predominant flavonoids in inflorescences were flavones, while in leaves, flavonols were the organ-specific compounds. The quantitative differences were observed between plant parts of morphotypes. Leaves consistently displayed the highest amounts of identified compounds and have been testified as the main source of antioxidant activity. Overall, white inflorescences accumulated a higher total amount of compounds compared to pink ones. The observed differences between morphotypes derived from the same population reflect the differences in specialised metabolites and their chemotypes. This study addresses gaps in knowledge, particularly in phenolic and triterpenic profiling of coloured inflorescence morphotypes, enhancing our understanding of chemotypes and morphotypes within the species.
