CFD simulation of vented explosion and turbulent flame propagation

Abstract: Abstract. Very rapid physical and chemical processes during the explosion require both quality and quantity of detection devices. CFD numerical simulations are suitable instruments for more detailed determination of explosion parameters. The paper deals with mathematical modelling of vented explosion and turbulent flame spread with use of ANSYS Fluent software. The paper is focused on verification of preciseness of calculations comparing calculated data with the results obtained in realised experiments in the … Show more

“…CFD packages simulate the hydrodynamics of the fluid in various systems. In recent years, there is a considerable interest in evaluating the use of CFD in the blast wave studies [23,24]. CFD is able to solve the problems of the simulation of explosion under various physical scenarios such as confined environments [25,26], obstructed environment equivalent to a porous system [27], and venting ducts [28].…”

“…In recent years there has been considerable interest in evaluating the use of Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) in the blast wave related studies (Hansen et al, 2010 andTulach et al, 2015). CFD has wide application prospects because it is able to create big domains as required and present varied post-process functions such as pathlines, contour, vector, report, animation and plot.…”
