“…Species rarefaction curves, based on the number of samples and the number of individuals observed, indicated that the sampling effort would need to be greater to better characterize the local community of Cerambycidae attracted by fermented fruit baits (Figure 3). study carried out in the biome with bait traps has found only 13 species of Cerambycidae (Santos et al 2014). The Cerrado has environmental heterogeneity which leads to diverse phytophysiognomies, presenting high floristic diversity and endemic plant species.…”

“…Studies using alcohol and chemical compound mixes (Fernandes et al 2010, Alisson et al 2019, and fermented material mixes containing fungi, wood, banana, sugar, molasses, and beer (Schmeelk et al 2016, Wong & Hanks 2016) as baits have already been performed. In Brazil, studies have mainly used sugarcane molasses as fermented baits, with 20% sugarcane molasses (Garcia 1987) and 10% honey (Santos et al 2014), to test their attractiveness to borer (Garcia & Nakano 1984) and cerambycid beetles. The use of sugarcane molasses or sugarcane juice mixed with ripe fruit has also been implemented for the collection of other Coleoptera families (Pacheco et al 2006, Jákl 2009, Orozco 2012, Evangelista Neto et al 2017 as well as for other orders of insects (Zacca & Bravo 2012).…”

“…For example, 13 cerambycid species were collected in a eucalyptus plantation and in the adjacent native cerrado vegetation in Minas Gerais State, Brazil, with 8 of them reported to damage eucalyptus and other Myrtaceae (Santos et al 2014). Phoracantha recurva F., a quarantine pest for Brazil and European countries, damaged E. citriodora Hook logs (Wilcken et al 2002).…”

“…Eucalyptus plantations occupy 5.7 million hectares, representing 72% of the total planted trees in this country 3 . Homogeneous forests may be more susceptible to pests 4–6 reducing productivity of Eucalyptus plants 79 .…”
