Cellular and Molecular Mechanism of Traditional Chinese Medicine on Ventricular Remodeling

Abstract: Ventricular remodeling is related to the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system, immune system, and various cytokines involved in inflammation, apoptosis, and cell signal regulation. Accumulated studies have shown that traditional Chinese medicine can significantly inhibit the process of ventricular remodeling, which may be related to the mechanism mentioned above. Here, we conducted a system overview to critically review the cellular and molecular mechanism of traditional Chinese medicine on ventricular remodel… Show more

“…Ventricular remodeling is the main factor determining the incidence of adverse cardiovascular events and long-term prognosis ( Konstam et al, 2011 ). Ventricular remodeling often presents as asymptomatic structural and/or functional abnormalities before patients develop clinical symptoms of heart failure ( Zhu et al, 2021 ). Preventing, suppressing, slowing, or even reversing ventricular remodeling to reduce the risk of heart failure and death is the main intervention target for ventricular remodeling.…”

“…Increasing evidence shows that traditional Chinese herbal medicines have protective and curative pharmacological effects on cardiovascular diseases ( Zhao et al, 2020 ; Zhang et al, 2021a ; Zhang et al, 2021b ; Zhu et al, 2021 ). Ampelopsis grossedentata (also known as vine tea) is a traditional Chinese edible herb widely consumed not only as a healthy tea but also as a medicinal herb that possesses numerous pharmacological activities.…”
