Die Herstellung von T1,S durch Reaktion von trockenem Schwefelwasserstoff mit dem sehr bequem aus metallischem Thallium und absolutem Alkohol in einer Sauerstoffatmosphare zuganglichen Thalliumathylat in absolut alkoholischer Liisung wird beschrieben. Das auf diesem Wege erhaltene T1,S ist sehr feinteilig und frei von Sauerstoff. Eine empfindliche Reaktion auf den Sauerstoffgehalt von T1,S wird angegeben. Die Diskussion der Literatur iiber die Darstellung von Sulfiden durch Reaktion von Alkoholaten mit Schwefelwasserstoff zeigt, daB bisher nur die Alkalisulfide, bzw. -hydrogensulfide auf diesem Wege dargestellt worden sind. l) Durch den plotzlichen Tod von ALFRED GOEBEL am 2. November 1951 im Alter von nur 25 Jahren habe ich einen meiner fahigsten Mitarbeiter verloren, dessen Begabung und Kenntnisse zu groBen Hoffnungen berechtigten.

1. Reines Lithiumsulfid wurde durch thermische Zersetzung von Lithiumhydrogensulfid bei 150°C erhalten. Das Lithiumhydrogensulfid wurde durch Umsetzen von Lithiumamylat mit Schwefelwasserstoff hergestellt. 2. Die Lösungsenthalpie von Lithiumsulfid in Wasser ist −15,3 kcal pro Mol. Die Neutralisationsenthalpie von einem Mol Schwefelwasserstoff mit 1 Mol Lithiumhydroxyd ist −6,7 kcal pro Mol H2S, mit 2 Mol Lithiumhydroxyd −6,9 kcal pro Mol H2S. 3. Die Bildungsenthalpie von Lithiumsulfid aus den Elementen ist −106,5 kcal/Mol. 4. Die Anlagerungsenthalpie von Schwefelwasserstoff an Lithiumsulfid beträgt −8,7 kcal pro Mol H2S. Dieser niedrige Wert erklärt die leichte Zersetzbarkeit von Lithiumhydrogensulfid in Schwefelwasserstoff und Lithiumsulfid.
