Catalase Like-Activity of Metal NPs–Enzyme Biohybrids

Abstract: In this work, an efficient synthesis of bionanohybrids as artificial metalloenzymes (Cu, Pd, Ag, Mn) based on the application of an enzyme as a scaffold was described. Here we evaluated the effect of changing the metal, pH of the medium, and the amount of enzyme in the synthesis of these artificial metalloenzymes, where changes in the metal species and the size of the nanoparticles occur. These nanozymes were applied in the degradation of hydrogen peroxide for their evaluation as mimetics of catalase activity,… Show more

“… 15 in the main text) has been previously demonstrated, in the catalase-like activity the efficiency of copper has been demonstrated, which are also much higher than those of other precious metals like Pd or Ag. 48 Therefore, we could consider that in this process, the catalytic efficiency could be due to the copper.…”

“…)-based nanomaterials have attracted more and more attention due to their unique physical and chemical properties and potential applications in biomedicine, sensing, surface enhancement, and other fields. 73,74 Nowadays, more and more noble metal nanomaterials with CAT-mimicking activity have been developed, 75 and some of them are also used in relieving tumor hypoxia in RT. For instance, Li et al designed porous platinum (Pt) NPs to address low radiation energy deposition and hypoxia-related radioresistance in tumors using a single nanoplatform.…”
