Cartographic-Environmental Analysis of the Landscape in Natural Protected Parks for His Management Using GIS. Application to the Natural Parks of the “Las Batuecas-Sierra de Francia” and “Quilamas” (Central System, Spain)

Abstract:

In this work we report a methodological procedure with an integrated physical-perceptual approach that allows units of landscape in protected natural areas to be differentiated. First, indirect methods were applied by means of a mapping procedure, which identified the physical components of major relevance. We then generated maps of natural units, anlyzing the “printed” landscape of a territory. Secondly, we developed direct methods to identify and describe the reresentative elements of the… Show more

“…Maps are the most complete tools that allow a thorough understanding and a clear image of the studied areas [6,18]. The most important GIS-based representations of the whole Italian territory are the"Carta della Natura" [19], "Map of Nature" [20] and the "Geologic Map of Italy" [21], coordinated by the ISPRA, tools to analyze landscape following a holistic approach (Figure 1).…”

“…It should be stressed, that the separation between code verification and model verification can be sometimes a bit artificial. For example, advanced modelling software platforms such as ANSYS [15] provide the modellers with a full-blown programming language to describe the model. However, in complex cases, such languages can be used to describe specific algorithmic behaviours.…”

“…Through 3D visualization and an analysis of spatial distribution, remote sensing and Geographical Information Systems (GIS) are helpful tools used in the design of urban areas [20][21][22][23]. They promote the evaluation and decision-making processes in the territorial planning of the project with the assistance of the inexpensive and easy-to-use process of Building Information Modeling (BIM), in addition to augmented reality tools found on the Google Earth free platform.…”
