“…Yarbrough et al [18] recorded a peak concentration as soon as 90 min after the coronary occlusion in the pig. Leonardi et al [20] demonstrated that cTnI levels began to increase at day 1 to 3 after coronary ligation and after myoblast implantation and gradually [21] and in a dog model [22]. This relation was confirmed in the present study.…”

“…cTnI levels ranged from people with myocardial infarction, such lesions are not common in animals. Cardiac troponins were evaluated in some pathologic conditions in ruminants including white muscle disease in lambs, (Gunes et al, 2010), experimental coronary ligation in sheep (Leonardi et al, 2008), foot and mouth disease in calves (Gunes et al, 2005;Tunca et al, 2008), bovine theileriosis (Fartashvand et al, 2013), experimental endotoxemia in calves (Peek et al, 2008). There are some reports about myocardial injury in sheep with acute lactic acidosis (Kirbas et al, 2014) which ranged from changes in ECG (Jafari-Dehkordi et al, 2011;Onmaz et al, 2011) to severe focal myocarditis (Dshurov, 1976).…”

“…Cardiac troponin assays designed for human use are a sensitive and specifi c marker for the determination of myocardial degeneration and necrosis in animals [15,22]. Some biomarkers, such as CK-MB and LDH, do not come close to the cardiac troponin biomarker in the evaluation of myocardial injury.…”

“…Cardiac troponin I concentrations have been reported in various diseases in cattle [14][15][16] but not in BRD. Therefore, the present study was aimed to evaluate the serum cardiac troponin I concentrations in weaned calves with moderate and severe BRD.…”
