The aims research studied the effect of the dietary inclusion of 3 different levels of black soldier fly larvae (BSFL) meal on the slaughter traits and meat nutritional quality of IPB D1 chicken (composite chicken: Pelung, Sentul, Kampung, Cobb Broiler). Five hundred and fifteen IPB D1 chickens were randomly allocated into three treatment groups (P0, P1, and P2) with three replicates/treatment, fifty-five to sixty chickens /replicate). The treatment groups consist of control feed ration (without BSFL)/ T0), 5% BSFL (T1), and 7.5% BSFL (T2). At 8, 9, and 10 weeks of age, eighteen IPB D1 chickens were slaughtered and separated between male and female, afterward, carcasses were weighed and parted into commercial parts. Proximate and Cholesterol analysis conducted on the breast, tight, and leg meat. The research outcomes indicated that BSFL meal as feedstuff showed similar carcass yield at each 8, 9, and 10 weeks of age in male and female chickens. IPB D1 chicken meat from BSFL (T1 and T2) treatment had higher fat content than control both in males and female chicken at 10-week ages. The protein percentage showed insignificant in all treatments, with a range from 19.85%-22.89% in male meat, and 21%-21.62% in female meat.

Sentul is one of local chicken species in which developed in Ciamis, West Java. In order to develop optimally, Sentul Chicken requires appropriate temperature. In the starter period, Sentul Chicken needs a constant temperature between 32˚C – 35˚C, to keep that temperature’s requirement, a brooder is needed. Brooder is an artificial heating that has function to fulfill the temperature’s provision for the starter period of Sentul Chicken. The aim of this research are to design a control of brooder automatically to meet the needs of temperature and light for Sentul Chicken’s starter period, designing a monitoring system utilizing push notifications technology which can support the process of supervising the brooder performance in order to comply temperature’s condition and light for the starter period of Sentul Chicken, and able to provide enhancement of the Sentul chicken’s weight in starter period. This research is using engineering method. The outcome of this research has proved that the tool of brooder can work automatically to fulfill temperature’s requirement (approximately between 32˚C – 35˚C for starter period of Sentul Chicken. Monitoring system using push notifications can be established by pushbullet application that able to observe brooder execution in real time and running for whole 24 hours, and this automatic controller can offer positive impact for the escalation of Sentul Chicken’s weight.

Background and Aim: Poultry, such as chickens, is an important source of animal protein, producing eggs and meat. Local chickens are able to adapt to the hot weather and become more resistant to disease. However, it has relatively slow growth and low egg production. These problems can be overcome through holding selection and crossing. Local chicken productivity is slow and low based on chicken growth. There is a need to examine the factors that influence growth and productivity. Therefore, this study aimed to evaluate crossbreed chicken growth performance, including body weight (BW), BW gain, feed intake, and feed conversion. Materials and Methods: DNA was extracted from 40 chickens with the growth hormone (GH) gene and 40 chickens with the insulin-like growth factor 2 (IGF2) gene, followed by a polymerase chain reaction. Genotyping was performed using restriction fragment length polymorphism analysis. In animal selection and phenotypic data collection, 80 chickens from Sentul, Kampung, and Kedu were used to produce the second-generation three-crossbreed chickens (F2) using the GH gene. Results: Growth hormone is a very relevant gene in chicken performance traits. Growth hormone and IGF2 genes regulate chicken production. This study presents the second-generation growth features of three-crossbreed chickens derived from Sentul, Kampung, and Kedu, all of which are native to Indonesia (F2). A statistically significant (p = 0.05) improvement in BW, weight gain, feed intake, and feed conversion over a 12-week period was observed when the animals were allowed free access to regular feed. Analysis of variance results indicated a significant (p = 0.0001) interaction between the 12-week period and GH and IGF2 gene sensitivities of different chicken breeds. Conclusion: Crossbreed chicken growth performance increased within 12 weeks. This study highlighted the need to improve the productivity and breeding of domestic crossbred chickens to contribute to the Indonesian conservation and genetic diversity program.
