Show more

“…A clinical case study on identical twins' voice characteristics was performed by Cielo et al 31 with a small sample consisting of one male and one female MZ pairs of Brazilian Portuguese aged 20 and 28 years, respectively. The voice quality analysis was carried out through auditory-perceptual and acoustic analysis, including automatic measurements of f 0 mean, median, standard deviation, maximum and minimum.…”

“…Because these vowels were found more often prolonged, they were selected for the extraction of f 0 metrics, given their potential forensic applicability (e.g., the extraction of glottal source parameters). It is noteworthy that, besides being the most commonly lengthened vowel in the corpus, the central prolonged vowel [a:] is also one of the most commonly used for the assessment of voice quality aspects within the clinical setting, e.g., 20,31,37,38 A minimum duration threshold of 160 ms was established for the selection of vowel segments, as in San Segundo and G omez-Vilda. 34 A total of 399 lengthened vowels were analyzed, a mean of 20 vowels per speaker and a standard deviation of 7 vowels.…”

“…They inspected seven parameters of voice performance and three acoustic features in 31 MZ twin pairs (median age 36 years, range 18-75 years) and compared them with control group pairs, which consisted of non-related persons of the same sex and age. In Cielo, et al (2012) research, two pairs of adult twins participated, one pair of each sex. They found no differences in vocal attack, articulation, loudness, resonance, respiratory mode, and type in both pairs of MZ twins evaluated, and the results were within normal limits.…”
