The objective of this work was to determine the factors of soil water availability (FSWA) that result in the highest agronomic performance of irrigated forage sorghum, with no changes in the plants' chemical-bromatological composition. The experiment was conducted at the Montes Claros State University, Janaúba campus, MG, Brazil, in a Typic Quartzipsamment (Neossolo Flúvico Psamítico - Embrapa) with 59 mm of soil water storage capacity in the 0.0-0.3 m layer, under drip irrigation. A randomized block design with four replications and a split-plot arrangement was used, consisting of five FSWA (f0.2 = 0.20; f0.35 = 0.35; f0.5 = 0.50; f0.65 = 0.65, and f0.8 = 0.80) in the plots and two simple forage sorghum hybrids (Volumax® and BRS-655) in the split-plots. The evaluations were based on fortnightly measurements of plant height, plant transversal diameter, number of leaves per plant, leaf area index, relative chlorophyll content, stem diameter, panicle length, dry matter yield, water use efficiency, crude protein, mineral matter, acid detergent fiber, neutral detergent fiber, and lignin. The FSWA of 0.20 and 0.35 increased dry matter yield and plant height of the two evaluated sorghum hybrids. The Volumax hybrid presented more crude protein content and acid detergent fiber. The evaluated FSWA did not change the chemical-bromatological composition of the sorghum hybrids.

The objective of this work was to evaluate the chemical and bromatological characteristics of forage sorghum varieties subjected to different leaching fractions of saline effluents from fish farming in the Semiarid region of Brazil. The experiment was conducted in a randomized block design, in a 3×4 factorial arrangement with four replications, consisting of three forage sorghum varieties (Volumax, F305, and Sudão) and four leaching fractions (0%, 5%, 10%, and 15%) of saline (electrical conductivity of 2.5 dS m-1) effluent from fish farming. The organic matter, dry matter, mineral matter, crude protein, neutral detergent fiber (NDF), acid detergent fiber, lignin, hemicellulose, and cellulose contents of the plants were evaluated. The crude protein contents of the plant components, and mineral matter content of leaves and panicles increased, and the NDF of leaves decreased in treatments with the highest leaching fractions. The F305 variety presented better chemical-bromatological characteristics compared to the other sorghum varieties evaluated.

The aim of the present study was to evaluate the degrees of macronutrients in the diagnostic leaf and the productivity of forage sorghum IPA 467, submitted to fertigation with nitrogen doses, during two harvests (summer and winter), both without regrowth. From January 20 to May 18 and from June 17 and October 14, 2016, two experiments were conducted in Canindé de São Francisco, State of Sergipe, in the Brazilian semi-arid. The experimental design was randomized complete blocks, with four replications. The treatments consisted of four doses of N (0; 80; 160 and 240 kg ha -1 ). Joint analysis of variance was carried out, considering each different harvest as a new factor. The characteristics evaluated were the content of nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P), potassium (K), calcium (Ca) and magnesium (Mg) in the leaves, height of the plant, diameter of the stem,green mass productivity, dry mass productivity and percentage of dry mass. The macronutrient content in the leaves was incremented with increasing doses of N, except Ca which presented no influence. The winter crop promoted the highest content of K, while the summer crop presented an elevated absorption of Mg. The varying dosage of N or the harvests season did not influence dry mass productivity (average of 17,386 ton/ha -1 ). The content of N (23.16-26.68 g kg -1 ), P (3.16-4.11 g kg -1 ), K (10.98-33.36 g kg -1 ), Ca (3.61 g kg -1 ) and Mg (4.78-9.64 g kg -1 ) can be considered enough for the full development of the plant.
