Blockchain-based Smart-IoT Trust Zone Measurement Architecture

Abstract: With a rapid growth in the IT industry, Internet of Things (IoT) has gained a tremendous attention and become a central aspect of our environment. In IoT the things (devices) communicate and exchange the data without the act of human intervention. Such autonomy and proliferation of IoT ecosystem make the devices more vulnerable to attacks. In this paper, we propose a behavior monitor in IoT-Blockchain setup which can provide trust-confidence to outside networks. Behavior monitor extracts the activity of each d… Show more

“…Figs. [14][15][16][17] show that by increasing the percentage of malicious nodes, which send good trust scores for a bad service, the proposed trust protocol stays resilient with only a slight impact from wrong trust evaluation scores. In contrast, the simple trust model totally crashes (in terms of successfully being attacked) by increasing the trust score up to 100% of its starting trust score (also shown in Fig.…”

“…In addition, the authors in [16] propose to use a behavior monitor system in IoT-blockchain infrastructures that can store IoT device data and classifies normal or malicious behavior based on these data. Their system model considers different declared IoT-zones used for different IoT use-cases where each zone has its local blockchain network used to store all kind of communications between devices in the form of blockchain transactions.…”

“…Dabbagh et al 17 conducted a bibliometric analysis on the state‐of‐the‐art concerning the use of IoT with blockchain technology, where they state that the integration between the two has opened up new lines of research, especially in security and privacy. Several works 18‐21 proposed the blockchain as a secure execution environment to satisfy IoT devices security requirements and to prevent IoT attacks. Dorri et al 22,23 presented an IoT system applied to a smart home.…”

“…This IoT based RFID service has multiple benefits for users and government [9] but it has certain complexities that might hinder the proper implementation process. The RFID tag uses the E-Wallet payment method which requires users' personal information, bank account, debit/credit card details in order to complete the transaction.…”
