Black tiger shrimp larvae (Penaeus monodon) that received eggshell powder in diet exhibit decreasing of growth and survival rate

Abstract: The objective of the present study was to investigate the effect of eggshell powder supplementation in diet on the growth and survival rate of black tiger shrimp, Penaeus monodon larvae. A total of 600 shrimp larvae (PL 12) was used with five treatment levels and four replications. The shrimp fed with 42% of crude protein, feeding frequency three times a day at 08.00; 14.00; 18.00 pm and 5% feeding rate. The dietary treatments were A (0%), B (3%), C (6%), D (9%) and E (12%) fed for thirty days. Results showed … Show more

“…Research on feed substitution ingredients to support the growth of fish and crustaceans has been previously reported. Among them are the use of gamat emulsion for artemia enrichment in tiger shrimp, Penaeus monodon [15], Daphnia sp enrichment for climbing perch growth [16], substitution of sea grape flour and egg shell flour in tiger shrimp Penaeus monodon [3,17], addition of red yam flour in goldfish [18] and soybean substitution meal on milkfish (Chanos chanos) [19], in addition to studies on the effect of different natural feeds have also been carried out on clown loach [20].…”

“…Research on shrimp in the province of Aceh has been carried out by previous researchers. Among them are studies on tiger shrimp feed [7,8,9,10,11], the relationship between shrimp length and weight [12,13,14,15], disease studies on vannamei shrimp (Litopenaeus vannamei) [16,17] and the effects of probiotics on giant prawns (Macrobrachium rosenbergii) [18]. However, until now research on the identification and diversity of freshwater shrimp is still very limited.…”
