Biogas Utilization for Powering Water Irrigation Pump

Abstract: A simple method and technique for handling, storing and utilizing of biogas have been done. SI engine was modified to power a water pump for irrigation by using 100% biogas as fuel (gasoline starting). A gas mixing device was designed to meter biogas into air stream of amount dictated by the engine speed and the load to obtain a proper proportion of biogas and air that burn for SI engine operation. An inner tube of tractor tire was used for storing and handling biogas from the biogas digester to the engine-pum… Show more

“…This waste can be used to produce biogas, which could be used to operate a pump. Energy consumption was found to decrease by an average of 80.3% and 79% in biogas-operated pumps [40]. Solar irrigation may not be feasible for shorter durations of use due to its higher cost.…”

“…When compared with gasoline and kerosene, biogas offers a cheap alternative fuel that offers a greater total pump efficiency (58% at 2,500 rpm engine speed). Biogas is used to power an SI engine that powers a water irrigation pump (Abdel-Galil et al, 2008). The main representative exothermic reactions (REXRs) within the high heat release (HHR) region and the dominant formation reactions of CH 2 O and OH, which are known as the indicators of low heat release (LHR) and high heat release (HHR), respectively, were not significantly affected by the more advanced NG start-of-injection Frontiers in Mechanical Engineering frontiersin.org (SOI) timing, which resulted in a higher heat release rate (HRR) (Li et al, 2021).…”
