“…The tensile strength of Ch/HA membranes is attributed to the intermolecular hydrogen bonds between hydroxyl and amine groups in chitosan and the hyaluronan backbone and polyelectrolyte interaction between carboxylic and amine groups. Addition of MitoQ demonstrates a reduction in mechanical properties which may be attributed to a plasticization effect; a similar trend was shown in caprolactones upon additive addition [ 36 , 37 ] or the interruption of chain-chain intermolecular bonding. Overall, the mechanical measurements show that MitoQ molecules slightly disturb the membrane formation which occurs through polyelectrolyte ion-pair interactions as the resistance at break is slightly reduced.…”

“…A previous study by our group showed that combinations of HPMCP and Soluplus ® have a significant effect on the stability of spray dried ITZ against recrystallization (Davis et al, 2017). HME, a continuous and solvent-free processing method, employed for the preparation of ASDs has advanced as a trustworthy, scalable processing technology in the pharmaceutical industry (Douglas et al, 2016a;Douglas et al, 2016b;Radl et al, 2010). It has been used to prepare different dosage forms, such as; implants, tablets, process intermediates for controlled release and solubility enhancement of therapeutics (Keen et al, 2014;Lenz et al, 2017), with acceptable process scale-up and product quality control via process analytical technology (PAT).…”

“…The elastic modulus ( Fig. 7 c) increased one order of magnitude with the particle content suggesting a stiffening effect of the polymer binder ( Douglas et al., 2016a ; Douglas et al., 2016b ; Guadagno et al., 2017 , Guadagno et al., 2014 ; Nohales et al., 2013 ). The elastic modulus varies in the following order vinylester >polyster>epoxy resins.…”
