Bioactive Natural Products of Marine Sponges from the Genus Hyrtios

Abstract: Marine sponges are known as a rich source for novel bioactive compounds with valuable pharmacological potential. One of the most predominant sponge genera is Hyrtios, reported to have various species such as Hyrtios erectus, Hyrtios reticulatus, Hyrtios gumminae, Hyrtios communis, and Hyrtios tubulatus and a number of undescribed species. Members of the genus Hyrtios are a rich source of natural products with diverse and valuable biological activities, represented by different chemical classes including alkalo… Show more

“…As alternative, the usage of tin(II) chloride in ethanol yielded the nitro group reduction in 54%. Similarly the reaction with selenium dioxide of this 2-aminoarylaniline furnished the structurally related 4-arylbenzo-[c] [1,2,5]selenadiazol 32 in 75% of yield. Under the same rationale, the regioselective methylation took place by heating 32 at 130 C in dimethyl sulfate, giving rise to the 4-anisylbenzo[c][1,2,5]selenadiazolium 33 in excellent 98% of yield.…”

“…The route C started with the reaction between the 2-aminoaniline 24 and selenium dioxide, to produce the benzo[c] [1,2,5]selenadiazol 27 in excellent 93% of yield. In agreement with the Milata 19 reports, these derivatives are methylated by heating in dimethyl sulfate as solvent.…”

“…Hyrtimomine F and G are bisindole alkaloid with the former having α-keto-ε-caprolactam structure [20]. Hyrtimomine H-K is four new alkaloids with beta-carboline skeleton [21]. The structures of all the hyrtimomines given in Table 1 were downloaded from PubChem database in SDF format.…”
