Bioactive Constituents from the Bryophyta Hypnum plumaeforme

Abstract: Chemical investigation of the secondary metabolites of the whole plant of bryophyte Hypnum plumaeforme Wilson led to the isolation of a new pimarane-type diterpenoid, momilactone F (1), along with seventeen known compounds. Their chemical structures were elucidated based on massive spectroscopic data. The allelopathic and antifungal properties were evaluated. Among them, momilactone F (1), acrenol (2), [11] momilactones A (3) and B (4) showed significant allelopathic activity against Samolus parviflorus Raf. a… Show more

“…Biflavonoids are always comprised of two units of flavonoids by a direct connection between the rings (A, B or C) of each flavonoid unit (He et al 2021). Biflavonoids were only found in the Dicranidae and Bryidae subclasses, mainly in Dicranales (Geiger et al 1997;Lindberg et al 1974;Markham 1988;Osterdahl & Lindberg 1977;Sala-Carvalho et al 2022;Waterman et al 2017;Zinsmeister et al 1996), Bartramiales (Basile et al 1999;Geiger et al 1997;Geiger & Bokel 1989;Kato-Noguchi 2016;L ópez-Sa ´ez 1996;Salm et al1993;Seeger et al 1991Seeger et al , 1993a, Bryales (Anhut et al 1989a,b;Geiger 1987;Geiger et al 1997Geiger et al , 1988Stein & Zinsmeister 1991), Aulacomniales (Geiger et al 1997;Hahn et al 1995), and Hypnales (Becker et al 1986;Brinkmeier et al 2000;Geiger et al 1997Geiger et al , 1988Li et al 2020;Seeger et al 1993bSeeger et al , 1992aSeeger et al , 1990Sievers et al 1992), but there were also reports of these compunds in Grimmiales (Geiger et al 1997), Hedwigiales (Zinsmeister et al 1996), and Rhizogoniales (Geiger & Seeger 2000;Zinsmeister et al 1996) (Fig. 9).…”

“…Oryzae [12] and Magnaporthe oryzae [13], which cause rice bacterial leaf streak, have been effectively inhibited using bio-extracts enriched with active metabolites from medicinal plants [12,13]. These bioactive compounds play crucial roles due to their antibacterial, antifungal, and antiviral properties, which com- To date, seven momilactone molecules have been identified, namely momilactones A (MA), B (MB), C (MC), D (MD), E (ME), and F (MF) [24][25][26][27][28][29]. Among these, only MA (1), MB (2), and MC (3) as shown in Figure 2 have been definitively identified in rice husks [24,26,27].…”

“…Icacinlactone M ( 8 ), 14 α- methoxyhumirianthol ( 16 ), and annonalide ( 17 ) were found from Icacina oliviformis ( Zhao et al, 2015a ) for the first time ( Sun et al, 2021 ). Besides ( Graebner et al, 2000 ), humirianthol ( 12 ) ( Li et al, 2020 ), icacinol ( 14 ), 17-hydroxyicacinol ( 15 ), 14 α -methoxyhumirianthol ( 16 ), and annonalide ( 17 ) showed cytotoxic activities ( Onakpa et al, 2014 ) toward human cancer cell lines. These compounds were also obtained from the tuber of Icacina oliviformis ( Zhou et al, 2020 ).…”
