We investigated executive functioning (EF) in children with Down syndrome (DS; n = 25) and typically developing (TD) children matched for mental age (MA; n = 23) using the Behavior Rating Inventory of Executive Function-Preschool. We sought to (1) compare children with DS to a developmentally matched control group, and (2) to characterize the EF profile of children with DS. Across teacher and parent reports, significant deficits in working memory and planning were observed in the DS group. Parents, but not teachers, of children with DS also reported difficulties in inhibitory control relative to the comparison group. Results extend earlier findings regarding EF impairments in children with DS. The complementary role inhibitory control may play in this profile is discussed.

Ö ÖZ ZE ET T A Am ma aç ç: : Conners Derecelendirme Ölçeği (CDÖ) Dikkat Eksikliği Hiperaktivite Bozukluğunu (DEHB) tanılamak amacıyla sıklıkla başvurulan bir ölçme aracıdır. Çalışmanın amacı CDÖ'nin tanılamaya katkısını, grupları (DEHB, kontrol) ve DEHB alt tip ayrıştırmasının hangi özellikler temelinde yapıldığını ortaya koymaktır. Bu amaçları gerçekleştirmede, CDÖ bulguları, özelde DEHB için geliştirilmiş bir diğer ekolojik ölçme aracı olan Yönetici İşlev Davranışlarını Derecelendirme Ölçeği (BRIEF) bulguları ile karşılaştırılmıştır. G Ge er re eç ç v ve e Y Yö ön nt te em ml le er r: : Araştırmaya yaşları 72-151 ay aralığında olan toplam 160 erkek çocuk katılmıştır. Bu katılımcıların 38'i sağlıklı kontrol grubunda, 122'si ise DEHB tanı grubundadır (alt tipler: DEHB-bileşik tip: 69, DEHB-dikkat eksikliği önde alt tip: 37, DEHB-hiperaktivite dürtüsellik önde alt tip:16 katılımcı). Katılımcıların öğretmen ve ebeveynleri CDÖ (öğretmen formundaki alt ölçekler için hesaplanan 3 toplam puan ve ebeveyn alt ölçekleri için hesaplanan 5 toplam puan) ve BRIEF (öğretmen ve ebeveyn formlarındaki alt ölçeklerin her biri için hesaplanan 8'er puan) doldurarak araştırmacılara teslim etmişlerdir. B Bu ul lg gu ul la ar r: : Elde edilen verilere çok değişkenli varyans analizi, lojistik regresyon analizi ve temel bileşenler analizi uygulanmıştır. Executive functions (EFs) are an umbrella term that includes various cognitive abilities (such as inhibition, planning, goal‐setting, monitoring, and shifting). There is common agreement that there are three main EFs: inhibitory control, cognitive flexibility, and working memory. Further studies have reported that compared to typically developing peers, children with cerebral palsy (CP) show deficits in EF skills. This study aims to evaluate children with CP's inhibitory control and cognitive flexibility skills. Forty children with CP between the ages of 7–13 were included in the present study. EF scores of the CP group were compared with scores of typically developing peers matched one‐to‐one by age and sex. The EF skills were evaluated with Wisconsin card sorting test (WCST), Stroop color–word test (SCWT) TBAG Form, and executive function behavior rating scale parent form (BRIEF‐P). It was determined that there was a significant difference in the WCST total trials, total errors, categories completed, and percent conceptual level responses scores (p < .05); SCWT‐TBAG scores (p < .05), and BRIEF‐P all scores (p ≤ .01) of children with CP. The results of this study suggest that children with CP are disadvantaged with EF skills in terms of inhibitory control and cognitive flexibility.
