This paper describes the development, final design and validation of an instrument that measures a range of student interactions and satisfaction in undergraduate chemistry laboratories. Student surveys or conceptual and attitudinal instruments are widely used techniques for collecting relevant information on student learning.However, there is a lack of specific instruments for collecting data on the relationships between social factors and learning. Consequently, this study attempted to fill this gap by introducing an instrument -the Interactions in Undergraduate Laboratory Classes (IULC). The design of the IULC instrument is based on the theory of distributed cognition, meaning that knowledge is not rooted in an individual's mind, but develops in the process of interacting with the environment. The instrument covers three aspects, (i) Frequency of Interactions, (ii) Satisfaction, and (iii) Importance of Interactions for the specific laboratory. Undergraduate students (N = 204) enrolled in a first-year chemistry course participated in a test case for the instrument and the corresponding data were analysed using different methods for each of the three parts. The factor structure of the data obtained from the first part of the instrument and internal consistency measures are discussed. Among findings captured by the instrument, Student-Teacher (instructors in the university context) Interactions correlated positively with students' satisfaction levels. Implications and suggestions for the use of the instrument are discussed.

Motivation to learn science, emotions in science classes, and engagement towards science studies in Chilean and Spanish compulsory secondary education students

Important factors in learning science include motivational variables (relevance of science learning for personal goals, self‐efficacy for learning science, and interest in a scientific career), emotional variables (boredom and enjoyment in science classes), and engagement variables (vigor, dedication, and absorption towards science studies). Data from 3034 Chilean and Spanish compulsory secondary education students was used to study the relationships between these variables, by means of a self‐report questionnaire analyzed using structural equation modeling (SEM). The model, tested for goodness of fit, showed that motivational variables predict emotions in science classes and explained 43% of boredom variance and 67% of enjoyment variance. Motivational and emotional variables explained the 73% variance in engagement toward science studies. Also seen is the essential role played by emotions that mediate between motivational variables in science learning and engagement towards science studies. When promoting engagement towards science studies, these results can be used to increase relevance of science learning to personal goals, self‐efficacy for learning science, and interest in a scientific career, besides reducing boredom, increasing enjoyment in science classes, and enhancing engagement towards science studies.

The Digital Transformation Services Internship Program at PT Arkatama Multi Solusindo aims to provide opportunities for intern students to develop themselves through direct experience in real projects. With a comprehensive learning approach, interns are given the flexibility to choose positions according to their interests, such as UI/UX designer, Web Developer, and others. This program not only focuses on developing technical skills but also emphasises moral education and professional ethics. Intern students will be involved in prototyping and follow the development process from planning to implementation. The results of their work are documented through logbooks and final reports, building a valuable portfolio. The internship is carried out on-site according to health protocols at PT Arkatama Multi Solusindo, which focuses on digital transformation in various sectors. Services provided include application development, IT Training, and Digital Marketing Services.
