This study aims to describe the process and results of using the WhatsApp application as a medium for assisting in writing popular articles for students at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic to support their literacy development. The subjects of this study were 180 twelfth grade students of MAN 1 Banyuwangi (Islamic State Senior High School). The focus of this research was the process of writing mentoring and the results obtained after the mentoring had been completed. Methods of collecting data were interviews, discussions, and questions and answers. The data were analyzed by using qualitative descriptive techniques. This research shows that at the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic, WhatsApp was the most suitable to be used as a medium to assist students in writing popular articles. The stages of mentoring carried out included themes, drafting designs, finding materials, developing designs into complete writing, and editing. The results obtained by students after the mentoring process using the WhatsApp application were that students could write popular articles with good categories for the suitability of themes and content, sentence composition and diction selection, paragraph cohesion and coherence, and use of written language. As many as 30 of the 180 popular articles written by students as a result of this mentoring were successfully published in the mass media. Based on the results of this study, it is recommended that teachers use digital applications to facilitate the process of personal and intensive mentoring in writing popular articles to get better results.

Abstract: This research aims to develop writing skill essay and short story learning materials for santri with integrate project based learning models. Using ADDIE models, this research produce a learning materials with four part. Project based learning is integrated on the part called “Proyek Keren Kita” (Our Cool Project). This product verified to materials expert, learning media expert, and audience. Based on the verification and test obtained percentage of eligibility aspect is 93,75%, feasibility aspects 100%, graphics aspects 99,3%, language aspects 100%, interestness of teaching materials 85,28%, and ease of understanding aspects 86,82% that means the producs are feasible to be used and disseminated.Abstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menghasilkan produk bahan ajar keterampilan menulis esai dan cerita pendek untuk santri yang berbasis project based learning. Metode pengembangan yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode ADDIE. Secara umum bahan ajar yang dihasilkan terdiri dari empat bagian. Metode project based learning diintegrasikan ke dalam bahan ajar secara langsung dalam aktivitas yang diberi nama “Proyek Keren Kita”. Produk tersebut selanjutnya diujicobakan kepada ahli materi, ahli media dan pengguna/santri. Berdasarkan uji coba tersebut diperoleh persentase aspek kelayakan isi sebesar 93,75%, aspek kelayakan penyajian 100%, aspek kegrafikan 99,3%, aspek kebahasaan 100%, aspek kemenarikan bahan ajar 85,28% dan aspek kemudahan pemahaman bahan ajar 86,82% yang berarti bahan ajar ini layak untuk digunakan dan disebarluaskan.

Personal Selling Presentation (PSP) is a teaching method that consists of the main components including team, seller and buyer, supply and demand, brochures, and peer assessment. This method was applied to the "Telaah Kurikulum dan Buku Teks" courses. This research aims to describe how to build critical and creative thinking skills through the personal selling presentation method and the application of writing activities. This study was descriptive qualitative research, and data were collected from observations and student essays. The results showed the students who act as sellers present learning material with various themes, such as "Kapsul Kurikulum", "Sekolah Internasional", "Sekolah Anti Galau", "Tur Wisata". Brochures were tailored to the theme of each team. Questions raised by students (buyers) were questions of higher-order thinking. Analysis of student essays showed that students generated new ideas in their writings, imaginations were expressed in writing such as creating curriculum names, adapting curriculum from abroad, and their critical attitude towards curriculum, national examinations, and teachers in Indonesia. The essays are also realized in the form of audiovisual uploaded on YouTube.
