OBJECTIVE:To identify psychosocial aspects of work associated with common mental disorders in workers who maintain electrical transmission lines and equipment. METHODS:A cross-sectional study was performed with 158 workers in the maintenance sector of an electric power company, in Northeastern Brazil. The main independent variable were the psychosocial aspects of work, measured according to the demand-control model (passive job, active job, low-strain job, and high-strain job), while the dependent variable was the prevalence of common mental disorders, measured by the Self-Reporting Questionnaire (SRQ-20). The relationships between variables were analyzed in multiple logistic regression models, considering a 5% signifi cance level. RESULTS:The prevalence of common mental disorders was 20.3%, varying according to the four categories of the demand-control model. The high-strain job group showed a prevalence that was 2.7 times higher than that of the lowstrain job group, after adjustment for the "physical activity practice", "leisure", "level of education" and "social support" covariables. CONCLUSIONS:The prevalence of common mental disorders was associated with psychosocial aspects present in the work of electricians, especially high-strain jobs, in addition to high psychological demand and low social support.

O objetivo do estudo foi avaliar o processo de implementação de estratégias de rastreamento e intervenções breves para o uso problemático de álcool (UPA), na atenção primária, do município de Coari, Amazonas. A metodologia usada nesta pesquisa foi do tipo avaliação para gestão por análise do processo, através da triangulação de métodos, utilizando-se técnicas qualitativas, como grupos focais com profissionais de saúde e equipe envolvida na capacitação/monitorizaçã, e dados quantitativos epidemiológicos e de produtividade, em serviços de atenção do ano 2008. Como resultados, obteve-se que o treinamento foi bem aceito pela equipe, que se sentiu valorizada. Da amostra, 25% pontuou UPA no Alcohol Use Disorders Identification Test (AUDIT). As dificuldades apresentadas se referem à preservação do enfoque biomédico, ainda, dificuldade para dar continuidade ao trabalho devido à rotatividade dos profissionais por motivos políticos e para estabelecer políticas para áreas de pouco acesso. Conclui-se que há necessidade de ações de gestão e de políticas de saúde, direcionadas à temática do UPA, na atenção primária, sobressaindo a necessidade de fixação do recurso humano das equipes de Estratégia de Saúde da Família. Objective:to examine the factors associated with problematic drug use among psychiatric outpatients. Method:a cross-sectional study was carried out in two mental health services. Eligible individuals were patients of these mental health services, who used them within the data collection period. Instruments: standardized questionnaire with sociodemographic, social network, social harm, and clinical information; Alcohol, Smoking and Substance Involvement Screening Test; Barratt Impulsiveness Scale; Holmes and Rahe Stress Scale. Statistical analysis was performed using parametric statistics considering a significance level of p ≤ 0.05. Study participants were 243 patients, with 53.9% of these presenting problematic drug use. Results:the most important independent predictors of problematic drug use were marital status (OR = 0.491), religious practice (OR = 0.449), satisfaction with financial situation (OR = 0.469), having suffered discrimination (OR = 3.821) and practicing sports activities in previous 12 months (OR = 2.25). Conclusion:the variables found to be predictors were those related to the social context of the patient, there, it is recommended that mental health services valorize psychosocial actions, seeking to know the social support network of patients, their modes of socialization, their financial needs, and their experiences of life and suffering.
