Assessment of Watershed Carrying Capacity for the Aesesa Flores Watershed Management, East Nusa Tenggara Province of Indonesia

Abstract: The Aesesa Flores (AF) watershed has an important role for the community in the district of Ngada and Nagekeo, East Nusa Tenggara Province of Indonesia. However, in recent years, over exploitation of natural resources in the AF watershed has caused severe land degradation in the region. This study analyzed the carrying capacity of the AF watershed. The assessment of the AF watershed carrying capacity in this study was done according to the Indonesian Ministry of Forestry Regulation Number P.61/2014 that regula… Show more

“…Analisis carrying capacity DAS merupakan faktor utama dalam perencanaan pengelolaan DAS baik dari aspek fisik maupun aspek sosial ekonomi serta tata kelola DAS (Noywuli et al, 2019). Indeks daya dukung DAS menjadi dasar analisis untuk mengetahui kemampuan DAS dalam mendukung pemenuhan kebutuhan manusia serta pada saat yang sama dapat melakukan perlindungan sumberdaya yang ada di DAS.…”

“…Methods such as the ETCC model [ 27 ], spatial analysis methods of geographic information systems (GIS) and scoring methods [ 28 ], the descriptive method [ 29 ], and spatial dynamics model [ 30 ] are mainly adopted. The scale mainly involves watershed [ 31 , 32 ], provinces [ 33 ], and counties [ 34 ]. In China, the content primarily aims at the definition of concept connotation [ 35 ], the analysis of regional dynamic evolution [ 36 , 37 , 38 ], and the diagnosis of influencing factors [ 39 , 40 ]; the methods mainly include the evaluation of ecological sensitivity [ 41 ], the projection pursuit model [ 42 , 43 ], the improved ecological footprint model [ 44 , 45 ], the fuzzy comprehensive evaluation method [ 46 ], and the TOPSIS model [ 47 , 48 ]; the scale principally includes large and medium-sized urban agglomeration [ 49 , 50 ], central cities [ 51 ], and typical functional area [ 52 ].…”

“…Forest removal in the seasonal tropical montane forest resulted in typically increasing mean annual water yield and decreasing dry-season flows (Peña-Arancibia et al, 2019). Noywuli et al (2019) reported that the forest-removal upstream watershed in Indonesia had a low carrying capacity condition indicated prominently by drought.…”
