Assessment of Photovoltaic Potential of Mining Sites in Uzbekistan

Abstract: The present study analyzed the potential of eight operational mining sites in Uzbekistan for the installation of photovoltaic (PV) systems: Sarmich, Ingichka, Kuytosh, Yakhton, Chauli, Sherobod, Chorkesar, and Tebinbuloq. A PV system with 1 MW capacity, which required a total of 4926 m2 of project land, was considered. The renewable energy analysis software RETScreen, developed by Natural Resources Canada (NRC), was used to calculate energy production, greenhouse gas reduction, and financial factors of the PV … Show more

“…Therefore, recent advances have been made that incorporate environmental monitoring sensors for wearable applications, including the monitoring of metals that undergo biomagnification in the food chain, and flexible gas sensors for ethanol and nitrogen dioxide . For additional viewpoints, a recent review of wearable devices in the mining industry has been written by Mardonova and Choi Awolusi et al provide another perspective by summarizing findings for personal safety of construction workers and discuss environmental concerns.…”

“…In several countries, ventures to install and operate renewable energy generation systems on abandoned mine sites to cultivate reuse and revitalize ex-mining land have increased in recent years [28] [29]. Global mining companies and foreign environmental conservation organizations have recently established the use of solar energy as a solution for addressing all mining needs to reduce environmental impacts and to reform post-mining areas into green energy areas.…”

“…For large interconnected systems it may represent emergency rate penalties for offending utilities. Uzbekistan is the latter case, with an agreed 300 MW float on the interconnector used for regulation for up to 20 minutes [6][7][8][9][10][11].…”
