The target of increasing the use of renewable fuels is directly proportional to the increasing demand for biodiesel. High demand for biodiesel must be balanced with sufficient availability from producers. One of the factors that influence biodiesel conversion rate is the use of catalysts. The use of sodium teoxide (CH3ONa) catalyst in the manufacture of biodiesel can be applied in the process of biodiesel production using induction heating technology. This technology will accelerate the heating process needed in the transesterification reaction. Based on research that has been done, the use of a catalyst concentration of 1% will produce a yield of 86.95% with product quality in accordance with SNI such as density 0.858 gr/cm3, viscosity 5.727 cSt, flash point 190°C, and acid number 0.439 mg-KOH/gr.
South Sumatra has an established state-own enterprise exploring the Quarry Open Pit Mine. This mining process leaves some abondance open field that has a high potential to install a PV system. The Government has undertaken an initial analysis of 200 hectares of ex-mining land for this purpose. This paper analyzes the potential for PV panels to be installed at PTBA Tanjung Enim Quarry Open Pit Mine. The location of the PV panel in the open pit Quarry for this analysis is at an altitude of +140 m above sea level. Meanwhile, the PTBA Tanah Putih Township housing site where the PV comparison panel is installed is located on the altitude of +100 m above sea level, and within 2.97 km from the mine. PV panels installed in Open Pit mines generate better electricity and efficiency compared to PV panels installed outside the mine (in PTBA Township Housing). The difference of Isc between PV Panel installed in Quarry Open Pit Mine and Township is 0.0075 A. The Iload measured on the Quarry Open Pit Mine PV panel is 0.5478 A higher than the Township PV panel. Meanwhile, Voc measured on Quarry Open Pit Mine PV panel is smaller than Township PV panel, approximately 0.266 V and Vload of Quarry Open Pit Mine PV panel is 0.266 V larger than Township PV panel. The produced power of Quarry Open Pit Mine PV panel is 11.02 W larger than the Township PV panel. From the total value, the average efficiency produced by Quarry Open Pit Mine PV panels is 2.31 % higher than the efficiency produced by Township PV panels. This research shows the possibility and advantage of installing a PV system on a Quarry Open Pit Mine.

The demand for electrical energy that continues to increase along with the advancement of civilization and also the increasing number of people as well as the reduced level of fulfillment and availability of non-renewable energy sources, it is necessary to have renewable energy resources that capable of fulfill these energy demand in a more environmental friendly. One of the natural energies that we can use is wind energy, which is easy to get and lasts continuously. This research examines the comparison of the power generated from the vertical axis wind turbine savonius type and darrieus H type. The wind that use in this research get from from the fan. The test is doing by varying the wind speed by adjusting the fan speed. The fan is directed to the wind turbine to rotate the wind turbine. To measure the wind speed produced by the fan, a digital anemometer is used. The result of this research is the relation data of voltage to rpm and voltage to wind speed of wind turbine.
This study was based on input and output obtained from 200 random samples of pineapple farm in South Sumatera Province. The major objective of the study is to analyze the input allocation of pineapple farm from six angles: cultivated area, seed, man power, chemical fertilizer (Urea, TSP, and KCL), manure, and insecticide. The result of Cobb Douglas production function approach indicated that, inputs had not been used optimally. Cultivated area, seed, man power, chemical fertilizer, manure, and insecticide should be increased. In the 8 input factors, cultivated area has the biggest influence on pineapple output. In aggregate, the condition of pineapple farm in this area has increasing returns to scale. From the marketing analysis, the farmers who sold their pineapple by using the shortest channel of distribution received more contribution than the other two kinds. Thus, by using the marketing efficiency analysis, the shortest channel of distribution is more efficient.
