Therefore, a further genetic diversity assessment using molecular markers is required for the estimation of genetic diversity and the selection of adequate conservation sites for these two species as it was the case for Dioscorea abyssinica (Agbangla et al, 2007), Digitalis obscura (Nebauer et al, 1999) and Asimina triloba (Huang et al, 2000). Following Maxted et al (1997), two to three sites should be chosen within selected regions as conserving diversity in many sites is not only more reassuring but highly recommended.…”

Les unités de forêt dense sèche et de savane abritent des populations de D. abyssinica (57 pieds/ha en moyenne), une espèce d'igname sauvage morphologiquement voisine de D. praehensilis qui est aussi à l'origine du complexe D. cayenensis-D. rotundata (Terauchi et al, 1992;Ramser et al, 1997;Mignouna et Dansi, 2003 ;Dumont et al, 2005 ;Agbangla et al, 2007). La pression anthropique existe mais elle est orientée vers les populations de D. abyssinica pour laquelle un taux de prélèvement de 16% est noté.…”
