Assessment of forest health status of Panca Indah Lestari Community Plantation Forest (case study in Bukit Layang Village, Bakam District, Bangka Regency, Bangka Belitung Province)

Abstract: Currently, community plantation forests play an essential role in providing wood supply for the timber industry with due regard to sustainability. One way to achieve the sustainability aspects of forest management is by conducting monitoring forest health. This study aims to determine the value of the health status of the Panca Indah Lestari Community Plantation Forest. This community plantation forest is located in Bukit Layang Village, Bakam District, Bangka Regency, Bangka Belitung Province. The stages of t… Show more

“…This is due to the presence or absence of defects or damage to the tree that is the cause tree growth becomes stunted or abnormal. If the damage is not repaired, it will eventually result in the death of the tree since the quality of the tree has reduced and its physiological activities have been disrupted [3]. Defines tree damage as the condition in which specific trees sustain harm due to infections, insects, air pollution, natural circumstances, and often performed human activities [14].…”

“…Source: processed from the results of field data Based on the data in Table 2 and Figure 4 it is known that the cluster plots 2, 4, 1, 6, 8 and 3 have good crown conditions, while cluster plots 5 and 7 have bad header conditions. A high VCR number for a tree in terms of assessing the health of a forest implies that photosynthesis is occurring well and that the results are better in carbohydrate form, whereas low VCR values indicate a damaged crown, and light may not show the best photosynthetic outcomes [3]. This demonstrates how the crown's size provides information about the overall health of the tree.…”

“…Making clusters -plots or measuring plots are carried out to take several objects representing the entire observed area. The cluster-plot design was made based on the reference of the FHM technique [21]. For example, one cluster plot has an area of 0.4 ha, representing one (1) ha of forest area [18].…”
