Assessing the feasibility of wastewater recycling and treatment efficiency of wastewater treatment units

Abstract: Wastewater reuse can significantly reduce environmental pollution and save the water sources. The study selected Cheng-Ching Lake water treatment plant in southern Taiwan to discuss the feasibility of wastewater recycling and treatment efficiency of wastewater treatment units. The treatment units of this plant include wastewater basin, sedimentation basin, sludge thickener and sludge dewatering facility. In this study, the treatment efficiency of SS and turbidity were 48.35-99.68% and 24.15-99.36%, respectivel… Show more

“…These processes may be ineffective or extremely expensive especially when the metals in solution are in the range of 1–100 mg/L. Therefore, it is important to develop an innovative, low cost and eco-friendly method for removal of toxic heavy metal ions from the water and wastewater ( Lou and Chin, 2008 ). A wide variety of microorganisms are capable of growth in the presence of heavy metal ions and tolerates high concentrations ( Gaballa and Helmann, 2003 ; Rehman et al , 2007 ).…”

“…Groundwater conservation and recycling of polluted wastewater are of major concern to researchers who are working in the field of water purification . With the increasing industrial revolution and population, there is a huge demand for water-quality control standards to address hazardous pollutants . Usage of organic dyes in industrial processes has become an integral part of industrial effluent sources.…”

“…The existing literature on performance evaluation methods includes data envelopment analysis (DEA) [18], the Malmquist production index [19], parametric stochastic frontier analysis (SFA) [20], and the standardized mathematical form of ERRS [21] for evaluation from both input and output aspects, as well as entropy, hierarchical analysis (AHP), and factor analysis (PCA) for unilateral evaluation [22]. In terms of evaluation perspectives, there have been studies on wastewater treatment efficiency [23], rural environmental governance efficiency [24], and urban environmental governance efficiency [25].…”
