“…Although only a small number of patients with TMJ derangement finally underwent surgery, those patients with CCL seem to be better candidates for arthroscopy early after the initial diagnosis, in comparison to patients with a minor WILKES score 27 . Interestingly, DAVIS et al 3 observed a major improvement in patients with CCL of the TMJ who underwent arthroscopy as the main treatment modality. Although by some authors 14,23,24 closed lock is thought to be a self-limited disease in a large majority of cases, relief does not usually occur before the first 2 years of follow up after initial diagnosis.…”
