Firm growth and profitability come primarily from new product development. Portfolio management has been emphasized in improving new product development (NPD) performance under multiple project environments. However, few researchers have demonstrated the consequence of different combinations of portfolio management practices on NPD performance.In this study, a decision support methodology based on Bayesian network scenarios is used to simulate the effect of portfolio management on NPD performance in uncertain environments. Portfolio management (PM), the extended application of investment portfolio theory to new product development (Cooper, Edgett, & Kleinschmidt, 1999), has been widely recognized as a crucial technique to improve NPD performance, especially for project-based organizations. As a strategic tool, portfolio management is about making important decisions including NPD project selection, resource allocation and balancing NPD projects (Cooper et al., 1999). Therefore, firms need to address the issues about how to conduct PM to realize strategic objectives (Lerch & Spieth, 2013).

Impact of Trust, Commitment, and Openness on Research Project Performance: Case Study in a Research Institute

This study focuses on three important shared values-trust, openness, and commitment-and examines the impact of these values on project performance and outcomes, specifically for science and innovation research projects. To this end, 12 in-depth interviews were conducted with researchers, research managers, and research leaders at the largest research institution in Scandinavia. The findings indicate that the three values (trust, openness, and commitment) are practiced at this research institution and are essential to effective teamwork. The findings also show that trust and openness promote shared understanding, and encourage commitment.

The development of the Leader Model for quantitative and qualitative analyses began with the goal of integrating managerial, organizational, technical, technological, economic, legal/regulatory, innovative, social, cultural, ethical, psychological, religious, ethnic and other aspects involved in the process of a leaders life cycle. The need to determine the most efficient life cycle of a leader led to the development of the Advisory, Negotiation and Intelligent DEcision support System for Leadership Analysis (ANDES). The objective of the authors of this work for integrating text analytics, advisory, negotiation and decision support systems is to improve the quality and efficiency of intelligent decision-making regarding a leaders life cycle. This ANDES consists of an intelligent database, database management system, model-base, model-base management system and user interface.
