This exploratory and cross-cultural mixed method study aimed to understand the perspectives of learners and instructors in engineering education on mobile learning and information and communication technology (ICT) tools in different countries. A total of 197 participants attended the survey for understanding perspectives of mobile learning in engineering education: 54 participants from Belgium, 36 participants from the Netherlands, 41 participants from Spain and 66 participants from Turkey, respectively. Data was collected via (i) surveys, (ii) open-ended questionnaires, and (iii) semi-structured focus group interviews, respectively. The results showed that most of the learners preferred to use a mobile education application in their native language. The learners mentioned that they preferred to learn by videos and audios; similarly, according to the instructors' data, most of the instructors preferred to teach with videos as their favorite learning tool. However, using educational technological tools is limited by instructors' lack of experience. It is very important to overcome the fear related to using new technologies in the classroom and increase the readiness of using educational tools by integrating them into their courses effectively. It is strongly recommended that digital learning materials collected in a virtual environment should be accessible to instructors and learners.

Aplicación de metodologías activas I Rubén Rebollar RubioSe presentaron un total de 16 comunicaciones, que se agruparon en cuatro bloques atendiendo a la temática de las mismas.La sesión se estructuró de la siguiente manera, después de una presentación preliminar por parte del coordinador de la mesa, los autores de las comunicaciones realizaban una breve presentación de su comunicación por bloque, al final de los cuales se realizaba un turno de preguntas y se establecía un coloquio entre los asistentes. La moderación de la sesión permitió que todos los participantes tuvieran un tiempo suficiente para la presentación. 1º Bloque "Comunicación"I Las comunicaciones que fueron asignadas a este bloque fueron las siguientes:• El elevator pitch como herramienta de mejora de las capacidades comunicativas y emprendedoras de los alumnos/as del Grado de Turismo.• Alternativa al trabajo escrito y presentación oral: Estudio piloto en una asignatura optativa.• La influencia de la personalidad del estudiante en su actitud hacia la actividad del relator.• SIMPA: caricaturas didácticas como apoyo visual al aprendizaje de la patología equina.En la primera comunicación, la gente del Grado de Turismo nos presentó como mejoran las capacidades de comunicación de sus alumnos mediante la realización de la técnica del "Elevator Pitch" (convencer a alguien de una idea novedosa emprendedora en un viaje de ascensor de 52 segundos) en un entorno real como era el Hotel Reina Petronila.En la segunda comunicación, compañeros del Departamento de Ingeniería Mecánica nos mostraron las ventajas (mayor motivación del alumnado y mayor calidad de los trabajos) de que los alumnos del Master de Ingeniería Biomédica en vez de presentar trabajos escritos con defensa oral realicen videos de 10 minutos de temas de la asignatura y los cuelguen en YouTube.En la tercera comunicación, docentes del Departamento de Dirección de Marketing e Investigación de Mercados relataron la continuación de un proyecto de innovación docente anterior sobre la figura del "Relator" como nueva herramienta de innovación docente. En el trabajo de este año han estudiado como la personalidad de la persona que hace el rol de relator influye directamente en los resultados de aprendizaje.Finalmente, los compañeros del Departamento de Patología Animal de la Facultad de Veterinaria presentaron los buenos resultados obtenidos al utilizar unas caricaturas para ayudar a los alumnos a recordar más fácilmente patologías equinas. 2º Bloque. In this paper the design and implementation of a network for integrating Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), the Object-Linking and Embedding for Process Control protocol (OPC) and the open-source Easy Java Simulations (EJS) package is presented. A LabVIEW interface and the Java-Internet-LabVIEW (JIL) server complete the scheme for data exchange. This configuration allows the user to remotely interact with the PLC. Such integration can be considered a novelty in scientific literature for remote control and sensor data acquisition of industrial plants. An experimental application devoted to remote laboratories is developed to demonstrate the feasibility and benefits of the proposed approach. The experiment to be conducted is the parameterization and supervision of a fuzzy controller of a DC servomotor. The graphical user interface has been developed with EJS and the fuzzy control is carried out by our own PLC. In fact, the distinctive features of the proposed novel network application are the integration of the OPC protocol to share information with the PLC and the application under control. The user can perform the tuning of the controller parameters online and observe in real time the effect on the servomotor behavior. The target group is engineering remote users, specifically in control- and automation-related tasks. The proposed architecture system is described and experimental results are presented.
