Critical thinking skills will stimulate students' cognitive reasoning in acquiring knowledge. In the learning process, 4 th students at SD Negeri Purbayan 02 show students' ability to think critically when learning activities are low and tend to be passive. This study aims to describe the application of the discovery learning model to improve the critical thinking skills of 4 th grade students at SD Negeri Purbayan 02. The research method uses classroom action research with 30 students as subjects. Data collection techniques using observation, questionnaires, and tests. The analysis technique uses quantitative techniques and qualitative techniques. The results showed that the application of the discovery learning model was proven to improve the critical thinking skills of 4th grade students at SD Negeri Purbayan 02. This was evidenced by the increased observation results from the pre-cycle, first cycle, and second cycle, namely the class average of 1.91; 1.95; and 2.41. Similar to the results of the questionnaire, in the initial conditions the average value of 63.38 increased to 82 after being given the action. This data is corroborated by the results of the precycle, 1 st cycle, and 2 nd cycle tests, namely the class average of 56.4; 74.3; and 84.2.

Research was conducted to describe and analyze the implementation of discovery learning model of science learning in Indonesia. This research method uses qualitative methods with using secondary data. The sample in this research is 30 articles published in international and national journals. Based on the analysis of 30 articles on science learning using discovery learning model in Indonesia, it can be seen that the discovery learning model has a positive impact on student learning outcomes, it can improve students' critical thinking skills, students' science process skills, students' scientific literacy, aspects of problem solving skills, and also students' understanding of concepts. there are also several disadvantages of the discovery learning model, there are; it will be optimal if it combine with media or other methods, students will be confused if they do not get the instruction from the teacher, and it require a lot of preparation and learning duration. Based on the literature review of the implementation of the discovery learning model in 2012-2021 that has been carried out, it can be concluded that the discovery learning model has a positive impact on science learning.

The pandemic of COVID-19 has led to remote learning which requires teachers to be creative in presenting and delivering the learning materials. Online learning platforms are needed to connect students and retain their attention and motivation in learning, whereas the choice of the platforms is strongly tied to the teachers’ perception. Therefore, this study aimed to analyse the use of Kahoot for young learners and the teacher’ perception towards its implementation in remote learning context. It was because Kahoot was reported to have a significant and direct positive effect on the students’ learning outcomes and studies related to its use for young learners were still limited. This was a qualitative study that was conducted by taking an English teacher as a subject. The data were collected through observation, interview, and questionnaire. The results showed that the implementation of Kahoot for young learners was carried out synchronously in two sessions with two different materials for one meeting. The first session was used for academic quiz while the second session was intented for fun activity, discussing general knowledge about the world, such as asking about the name of the character in a cartoon, answering riddles, and so on. The results also indicated that the teacher also had positive perception towards the implementation of Kahoot in remote learning.
