Application of improved fuzzy comprehensive evaluation method in eutrophication assessment for tributary bays in the Three Gorges Reservoir, China

Abstract: Since the operation of the Three Gorges Reservoir, its tributaries have been eutrophic and flooded many times, the prompt and accurate eutrophication assessment is the foundation of water environmental management for this area. To address the problems existing in the fuzzy comprehensive evaluation, a novel method is proposed to adjust the indicator weight by using the analytic hierarchy process–entropy weight method, improve the fuzzy operation method, and take the weighted average as the basis of comprehensiv… Show more

“…In the analysis of multicollinearity, if the coefficient value or even the sign in the model with the new variable changes significantly so that the result is unacceptable, it is very likely that there is multicollinearity. us, the new variable cannot be introduced into the model [33,34]. Figure 2 shows the standard P-P plot of the regression standardized residuals.…”

“…oligotrophicmesotrophic, mesotrophic-eutrophic, eutrophic-hypereutrophic) (Lu et al, 1999). In addition, the selection of the classi cation criteria is subjective and the weights of the parameters used to characterize the degree of eutrophication are equal (Chen et al, 2021). As a result, the values of water quality parameters around trophic state transitions can not be taken accurately and deterministically for individual and global TSI calculation (Novajan et al, 2019).…”

“…The Hierarchical Analytical Process (AHP) method is commonly used for this task (Lu et al, 1999). This method establishes subjective relative weights for the trophic indicators through a judgment matrix (Chen et al, 2021), determining those that will have greater in uence in the characterization of the degree of eutrophication (Li et al, 2005).…”

“…The migration and transformation of different forms of P are driven by climate and biology and closely related to water quality (Yuan et al, 2018; Zhang, 2021). Furthermore, excessive P can directly lead to water eutrophication (Chen et al, 2020). Currently, the problem of excess P is particularly serious in some coastal waters, which has become the main cause of frequent outbreaks of red tides (Cheng et al, 2021).…”
