Application of Epoxy Resin for Improvement of the Banana Stem- Acoustic Panel

Abstract: Background: Greener epoxidation by using vegetable oil to create an eco-friendly epoxide is being studied because it is a more cost-effective and environmentally friendly commodity that is safer than non-renewable materials. The aim of this research is to come up with low-cost solutions for banana trunk acoustic panels with kinetic modelling of epoxy-based palm oil. Method: In this study, the epoxidation of palm oleic acid was carried out by in situ performic acid to produce epoxidized palm oleic acid. Res… Show more

“…Conventional epoxy is mostly made of petroleum oil components. 1 However, petroleum-based epoxy has the potential to cause pollution to the environment as well as disrupt marine ecosystems and terrestrials. Thus, an environmentally friendly and renewable alternative to epoxy is needed to overcome the depletion of crude oil reserves and to protect the environment.…”

“…In a study done by Paul et al ., waste cooking oil was epoxidized in the presence of hydrogen peroxide as an active oxygen donor and sulphuric acid as a homogenous acidic catalyst [10] . According to the optimization findings, [11] greater catalyst loading and increased moles of hydrogen peroxide result in higher unsaturation to epoxide conversion. The optimal Oxygen oxirane content (OOC) was discovered at 2 moles of hydrogen peroxide (C=C bonds to hydrogen peroxide molar ratio), 1.5 wt% catalyst loading, and a reaction period of 6 hours.…”
