“…The islanders of Barrang Lompo still have a family kinship whose habits include meeting with family and neighbors [30,31]. According to the questioner, the islanders who gather are usually families.…”
One of the problems in dense environments such as Barrang Lompo Island is the lack of public space that islanders use for various activities. Due to the lack of public space, they use the space around them as a gathering place. The purpose of this study is to know the pattern of public space in Barrang Lompo Island and the factors that shape this pattern. The island is located at Makassar in Indonesia and is one of the islands in the Spermonde archipelago group. It has an area of 0.49 km 2 and 4,793 inhabitants, of which 2,442 are male and 2,351 are female. To answer the research questions, qualitative research methods are used by observing the activities of the islanders in public spaces. The result of the research is that the public spaces on Barrang Lompo Island are scattered around the house, such as in the street, aisle, street corner, courtyard, under the houses on stilts (Siring), courtyard, square, around the cemetery, seashore and pier. The bale bale is the most important urban furniture as a meeting place in the public space. The proximity of houses to each other, the gatherings known as Tudang Sipulung and the dense environment are factors in the pattern of public space. This study provides benefits to local authorities in Barrang Lompo Island as a guide for public space planning. For example, comfortable bale bales or benches should be placed as gathering places in many places, especially along the street, so that the local wisdom of gathering can be maintained.

“…Positive perceptions include that people feel the benefits of street vendors and they admit it. Often transact at street vendors because the price of goods sold is cheaper with the same quality as goods sold in stores and supermarkets (Akil et al, 2023). While the negative perception of street vendors according to the community is that their existence can disrupt the order and cleanliness of the city because the conditions of street vendors are chaotic and not neatly arranged, they also often litter.…”
Business development in the Auditorium Park of Tanjungpura University, especially street vendors, has increased, giving rise to increasingly competitive competition between street vendors. This study aims to describe and analyse the factors of public acceptance of street vendors, the situation of the existence of street vendors and target object factors that influence the emergence and increase of street vendors around the Auditorium Park of Tanjungpura University Pontianak. The method used in this study is a qualitative research method using a descriptive approach-data collection using interviews, observation, and documentation. The data analysis techniques used are data reduction, data presentation and conclusion. The results of this study showed that several factors were found, such as the public acceptance of street vendors who were dominant to an unfavourable view of the existence of street vendors that caused congestion and slums around the Auditorium Park. Then, from the Situation factor, the existence of street vendors makes it irregular, and the scattered garbage creates a shabby impression around the park. The last factor of the target object of street vendors is the park, which is one of the objects, and the presence of visitors or people who gather in the park auditorium to attract street vendors. Suggestions addressed to Tanjungpura University must be given clear regulations and strict action from Tanjungpura University for street vendors selling in Tanjungpura University Auditorium Park so that they are orderly so as not to take the shoulder of the road that hinders the mobility of road users. To the Government, street vendors must be given a unique, strategic and spacious place so that street vendors are free to trade and the city layout is neatly arranged.
Intercity bus terminals function as transit facilities that tend to be less effective. Intercity bus passengers prefer to transit outside the terminal. The connectivity factor is consideration of the passengers' needs (Abdullah et al., 2018), one of its indicators is accessibility to or from the transit location. At present, there is no standard for a convenient transit location distance for passengers from the place of origin or to a destination in the city. The criteria are compiled into the passenger transit level of service (LOS), as an effective tool to evaluate the quality of the location based on passengers' perceptions with the scales LOS A (Very Near), LOS B (Near), LOS C (Rather Close), LOS D (A Little Far), LOS E (Far) and, LOS F (Very Far). The research and case study were conducted in Makassar city. The data were obtained through questionnaires. Law Successive interval scaling and regression were used as the methods of analysis. The results of the research indicate that the transit distances expected by passengers were as follows: LOS A-B is<2 km and LOS C is 2,1-4 km , LOS D is 4,1-12 km, LOS E is 12,1-20 km and, LOS F is >20 km. Moreover, the distances of the transit location from roads were as follows: LOS A-B is < 100m, LOS C is 100-1000m, LOS D is 1001-2000 m, LOS E is 2001-2400m and LOS F is >2400 m.
