“…Apolipoprotein D (ApoD), a member of the lipocalin superfamily of ligand transporters and an apoprotein component of plasma highdensity lipoproteins, has been shown to bind to several small hydrophobic molecules, including cholesterol, progesterone, porphyrins, and arachidonic acid (Ong et al, 1999). Many densely labeled ApoD-immunoreactive cells that had features of OPCs in the immature cerebellum were identified (Ong et al, 1999). In the present study, a threefold increase in ApoD expression was found in OPCs compared with NSCs, confirming the previous findings.…”
