Antitumor activities of carboplatin–doxorubicin–ZnO complexes in different human cancer cell lines (breast, cervix uteri, colon, liver and oral) under UV exposition

Abstract: This study aimed to examine the pharmacological profiles of multiple chemo drug candidates in systematic circulation to enhance their specific interactions with five human cancer cell lines. ZnO nanoparticles were successfully bound with chemo drugs via physical adsorption. The drug loading capacity was confirmed by FTIR, whereas the loading efficiency was determined via UV-vis spectrometry. The mean hydrodynamic size increased to 69-82 nm after chemo-drug immobilization via non-covalent interaction with ZnO. … Show more

“…A Similar approach was performed previously where Cr together with doxorubicin (Dox) were dual loaded onto ZnO nanoparticles and proved highly efficient at increasing the sensitivity and selectivity of chemo drugs to human breast adenocarcinoma cells. 70 All the above reinforces the idea that our newly synthesized Cr@CuO NPs possess much better therapeutic potential than free Cr or CuO Nps in the treatment of colon cancer.…”

“…These NPs displayed a loading capacity and efficiency of 77.81% and 99.05%, respectively. The anticancer studies of ZnO NPs co-incorporated with carboplatin and doxorubicin showed good antitumor efficacy against HT-29 cancer cell lines under the influence of UV with an IC 50 of 0.173 µg/mol and they were selective in their uptake into the target cells where the loaded drugs were released to induce acute apoptosis with a significant absence of a growth signal of target cancer cells [ 93 ].…”
