“…The significant presence of metallo-b-lactamases suggests that many of the newer b-lactam/b-lactamase inhibitor combinations, such as ceftazidime/avibactam, meropenem/vaborbactam, and imipenem/relebactam e none of which has activity against micro-organisms containing metallo-b-lactamases e may have limited effectiveness in these patient populations [33,34]. Detecting colonization with these metallo-b-lactamases is important information for antimicrobial stewardship programmes and one of the key reasons, in addition to infection control, for undertaking such surveys [6]. Anecdotally, the resistance genes detected, especially bla OXA-48 and bla VIM , were also confirmed to be present among clinical isolates in at least five of the hospitals participating in the study.…”

Others were the Centre of Disease Control (CDC) report (WHO, 2013 ), meeting report (Yam et al., 2019 ), consensus statement (Goldmann, 1996 ), viewpoint (Gross & Patel, 2007 ), poster (Turnidge et al., 2016 ), presidents page (Yewale, 2014 ) and position paper (Maillard et al., 2020 ).…”

“…The plan emphasises on the importance of optimising antimicrobial use through regulating the dispensing process and limiting the easy access to antimicrobial agents. Aligning with one of the objectives of WHO global action plan, the Saudi MOH published ‘Kingdom Saudi Arabia national action plan on combating antimicrobial resistance’ with three core components: strategic plan, operational plan and monitoring and evaluation plan 21 …”
