“…Community pharmacists in particular are key drivers to improving antimicrobial stewardship in contexts like Thailand, where pharmacies are the most cost-effective, accessible and sometimes the only healthcare provider available [ 10 , 11 , 12 , 13 ]. “…1 In most cases, antibiotic-resistant pathogens are responsible for nosocomial infections, which have risen due to excessive use of broad-spectrum antibiotics. [2][3][4][5][6] This is a concern as the development of new antibiotics and repositioning of old antibiotics has slowed. 3,7 Alongside this, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recognized that 20-50% of all antibiotics prescribed to patients in critical care hospitals in the US are either redundant or inappropriate.…”

“…Similarly, inadequate knowledge and poor practices among healthcare professionals have been reported ( Alzahrani et al, 2020 ; Baraka et al, 2021 ). In 2016, it was reported that the pharmaceutical expenditure in Saudi Arabia reached 7 billion US dollars, with nearly 2 billion US dollars spent on antibiotics ( Almeleebia et al, 2021 ).…”
