“…To the best of our knowledge, there are no previous reports concerning either the chemical composition or the biological activities of the essential oils from P. corrugatum, P. curtispicum, P. darienense, P. grande, P. longispicum, and P. trigonum, whereas the essential oil composition of the other five species, P. augustum, P. hispidum, P. jacquemontianum, P. multiplinervium, and P. reticulatum collected in other Latin American countries, has been previously described. Biological activities, such as antifungal, antileishmanial, and anticholinesterase properties, have only been investigated for the essential oils of P. hispidum [13,[19][20][21] and P. multiplinervium [22].
