Annexin A8 (ANXA8) regulates proliferation of porcine endometrial cells via Akt signalling pathway

Abstract: Annexin A8 (ANXA8) gene, a member of the annexin family, encodes an anticoagulant protein involved in blood coagulation cascade and acts as an indirect inhibitor of the thromboplastin-specific complex. However, little is known about the function of ANXA8 in porcine endometrial cells so far. Here, ANXA8 mRNA was found to be abundant in porcine endometrium on days 11-13 of pregnancy. Real-time RT-PCR analysis indicated that the mRNA expression of the leukaemia inhibitory factor (LIF) and the epidermal growth fac… Show more

“…In these APL cells, all- trans retinoic acid-induced differentiation was associated with AnxA8 downregulation, indicating a role in proliferation and differentiation [ 398 ]. Indeed, over the years, elevated AnxA8 levels were reported in a variety of cancers [ 397 , 398 , 399 ], and as shown upon in vivo knockdown in endometrial cells of the uterine horn of mice, possibly promoting cell proliferation via Akt signaling pathways [ 400 ] ( Table 8 ).…”

“…34,35 KLK11 (kallikrein 11), which is part of the kallikrein kinin system (KKS) is involved in the pathogenesis of heart failure and has been mainly discussed in relation to genitourinary tumors, while its other functions involving heart tissue remain to be discovered. Intriguingly, annexin A8 (ANXA8), a member of the annexin family that performs multiple functions, including impacts on proliferation, quiescence and colony formation in epithelial cells, while also acting as an indirect inhibitor of the thromboplastin-speci c complex, 36 was identi ed as a hub gene in the LAA. 36 Its effect on cardiac tissue has rarely been studied.…”

“…Because in vivo experiments in the pig are difficult to perform, we used an implantation failure mouse model based on other studies focusing on pig or human implantation that used this model (Jiang et al, ; X. Sun et al, ).…”
