Analysis of the R2 Absorption Structures in LiF, KCl, and KBr

Abstract: Starting from the linear and quadratic electron-phonon coupling for defects in crystals, a method is described to obtain the one-and multiphonon contributions to the optical absorption structure for the case of intermediate coupling strength. It is based on the explicit knowledge of the absorption shapes of the zero-phonon line and the vibrational sideband, which have to be measured with high spectral resolution as function of temperature.
