Analysis of Particle Size Regulating the Insecticidal Efficacy of Phoxim Polyurethane Microcapsules on Leaves

Abstract: The size of microcapsules (MCs) is an important and easily adjustable parameter; however, the function of this parameter in the movement behavior of pesticide MCs had not yet been studied. Phoxim-loaded polyurethane MCs with three various size distributions (average diameters of 1.39 μm, MC-S; 5.78 μm, MC-M; and 23.60 μm, MC-L) were obtained. In the greenhouse experiment, the insecticidal activities of MC-S and MC-M occurred mainly in the first 3 days and that of MC-L was maintained from 3 to 10 days after app… Show more

“…Nevertheless, there was no direct correlation between the transport efficiency of EB@PGA and the degree of functionalization. The results illustrated that NPs with 260–360 nm could be transported through phloem tissue, a size consistent with those reported in the literature 38 . PGA nanocarriers could effectively improve phloem transport of EB in the flowering cabbage.…”

“…Stomachtoxicity refers to that the pesticide enters the body through the mouthparts of pest and exerts its activity during the feeding process [ 31 ]. However, the limited life of active ingredients, which results in the failure to reach the larval intestine efficiently and to be absorbed by pest [ 33 ]. Mechanism research of contact toxicity and stomachtoxicity of PthII@HKUST-1 was shown in scheme Fig.…”

“…The transport efficiency of THI@BSA·NPs inside the larvae was tested according to a previously reported method with modifications [ 41 ]. The THI@BSA·NPs diluent solution (0.2 mL) at a concentration of 500 μg/mL was added into artificial feed (2 g), and the feed was put into a breeding box.…”
